から、inn-STABLE-20000811.tar.gz をもらって来る。以下作業は全て NetBSD/macppc, StarMax 4000/160.
INSTALL の読み方 も見て、次のように configure

inn は難しくない を見ながら、 /usr/local/news/db/active に二行を設定しようと思ったが、

実はさきほど確めたのは ypcat passwd で /etc/passwd には次のようになっている。

news:*:6:8::0:0:Network News:/var/spool/news:/sbin/nologin

これを消してしまう。/usr/local/news が root の持物になっていて ~/.tcshrc が書けない。
news の持物に変更。cshrc に

set path = ( $path /usr/local/news/bin )

と書いておく。makehistory -o で次のものが出来る

一時間で 200M, 2G だと 10 時間かかりそう。結局、五時間で終る。

そう言えば fsize を変更しておかなかった。調べた人は SRA の渡辺さんだったっけ。 overview も一緒だし。もう一度やり直し ? (と思ったけれど、最近は over.view を別に出来ない ?)

考えると、この news server の目的は速いことよりも、古い記事を保存すること。 だったら... 記事を変換しないで、 そのまま html で前後の参照関係も見えるような cgi を作って、 namazu と連携させるような努力の方が大切で、 読出性能 (overview を別にすること)は二の次と考えれば、これでいい ?
NewsGroupKeyWordSearch というのはあるらしい。ついでに、

group: fj
内容 : namazu inn

で索いて見た。何も見つからなかった。?
さて、 http://news.ki.nu/?Message-ID=...... と指定すると記事が見えて、HTML 化してある。 後方 link も張ってある。 (参照している記事だけでなく参照されて いる記事も link されていること)
MHonArc のようなことをその場でやるって無理かな。
それは置いて措いて、 makehistory すると

Bad symlink control/54282 -> /var/news/spool/articles/fj/life/money/15455, Bad file descriptor

となってしまう。

これは無視するか makehistory -b とすれば、消してくれる。
(dump/restore でなくて記事の転送でやれば、正しく設定されたよう な気もする)
それよりもすぐ終ってしまうのは active が junk/control だけだから。 makeactive > active を先に。(これは 12 分くらい)
その後に makehistory -bi すると 46 分くらい。
