こんにちは。
Emacs 21.0.105 で make-mode-line-mouse2-map がなくなり、 make-mode-line-mouse-map になったようなので、 以下の修正 が必要です

• euc-jp の画面では読めるのに iso-2022-jp の画面では読めない。
• euc-jp の画面で M-x describe-coding-system すると、

  Coding system for saving this buffer:
    E -- euc-jp (alias of japanese-iso-8bit)
  

  となっているが、
• iso-2022-jp の画面では

  Coding system for saving this buffer:
    1 -- iso-8859-1 (alias of iso-latin-1)
  

  となっている。

• 20.7 が入っていることを前提とします。
• M-x canna とすると、Canna サーバに接続しましたという

5. configure した時と、実行時に LANG が同じである必要はないのだから、 問題は実行時にしか分らない。
6. configure の時に日本語対応になっていませんよというのもいいが、 作成済の梱包 (compiled package) だとそれを言う機会がない。
7. nkf は非常に多くの回数呼ばれるので、 余分な手続(overhead) はなるべく 少ない方がいい
8. とは言うものの no ということは module は使っていないのだから 少しくらい負担が増えてもいい ?
9. せめて if ( -x $conf::NKF ) としてもいいのではないか。
